 University of Nevada, Reno
Founded in 1864, the University of Nevada, Reno, is located just north of downtown Reno. Flanked by Truckee Meadows and Reno's many casinsos, the layout of the college was modeled after University of Virginia's Thomas Jefferson Academical Village.
Roughly 13,000 students attend UNR, which is known for its journalism school and for its seismology program -- one of the most advanced in the country. Other well-known concentrations include agricultural research, natural sciences and mining-related engineering.
In 2004, the Wolf Pack men's basketball team attended the Sweet Sixteen tournament, a first in the history of the school.

Follow U.S. Highway 395 North into Reno
Take Exit 68, Sacramento/Elko, to Interstate 80 West-Downtown Reno
Take the Downtown Reno/Virginia Street exit (exit 13)
Make an immediate right onto N. Center Street
The main entrance to the University is one block away, just past E. Ninth Street. Center Street leads directly into the university. An information kiosk is located on the right.
